In a post on their official Pokémon GO website, Niantic Inc. have today announced that new monthly worldwide events, called ‘Community Days’, will soon arrive in Pokémon GO. These ‘Community Days’ will involve players heading out to their local parks where, for a short time only, they will be able to catch a special Pokémon with a unique move. It is Niantic’s hope that players will, in addition to catching this exclusive Pokémon, ‘make new friends and experience what it means to be a part of this special community’.
Limited-edition Pokémon aren’t the only incentives for players to leave their homes, however. Both casual and hardcore players will find that plenty of in-game bonuses will be active in-game if they participate in the event. For instance, in their blog post Niantic states that:
Other bonuses will be in effect during the event, such as increased XP or Stardust, and Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
These bonuses will mean that players will be able to level up faster, upgrade the levels of their Pokémon much easier, and ultimately enjoy a more cost-effective deal when using purchased Lure Modules, as their extended durations will increase the maximum number of Pokémon spawning from a single use. Definitely worth getting involved with, no?
The first Community Day event is scheduled for January 20th, with the special Pokémon being offered this time around being Pikachu. This Pikachu will know the move Surf, and will be in abundance, but only for a few hours and then it will disappear. Time will therefore be of the essence for all participating players, so be sure to check when the event starts where you are below and don’t miss out!
